ROCKWOOL Factory Tour: May 17, 2022

Join BEC-Baltimore and BEC-DC for a tour of ROCKWOOL’s new plant in nearby West Virginia. ROCKWOOL’s stone wool products are in demand across the world in residential, commercial, industrial projects. Having been in operation for more than 80 years, today they operate 45 manufacturing facilities and have a global network of sales offices, distributors and partners.
Success at ROCKWOOL has always been built on a foundation of partnership with the communities in which they operate and their track record of making a positive and meaningful difference includes economic benefits and support for local programs and causes. This 338,000 square foot facility, located on 136 acres, began commercial production in July 2021.

In addition to the plant tour, we will also be joined by Antoine Habellion, Head of Technical at ROCKWOOL. Antoine will present on the following topic:

Designing for Moisture Control Using Stone Wool Insulation

This 1-hour presentation will cover the following learning objectives:

  1. Understand moisture control building science fundamentals.
  2. Understand how stone wool can be used in exterior wall applications.
  3. Make informed decisions about the appropriate rain control and vapor control strategies for wall assemblies.
  4. Review in-situ examples of stone wool performance attributes.

Space is limited. Lunch will be provided.

About Antoine Habellion

Antoine Habellion photoAntoine Habellion, M.Eng, M.A.S., is the Head of Technical of ROCKWOOL North America, where the main focus of his work, apart from the management of the technical team, entails managing building enclosure research and design projects related to energy efficiency, enclosure performance, summer comfort, Building Information Modeling (BIM), durability and resilience. As a building science professional, the core group of his clients include architects, engineers, design consultants and contractors.
Prior to moving to North America, Antoine worked as a building scientist in Paris, France, also with ROCKWOOL.
Antoine holds a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering from the engineering school of Hautes Etudes d’Ingénieur in Lille, France and an advanced master’s degree in Building Science from the engineering schools of Arts et Métiers ParisTech and ESTP in Paris, France where he wrote a thesis on the Summer Comfort in Building Without Cooling Systems.
Antoine is fluent in French and English.
